Mission Statement
The BI-LO Charity Classic is an annual golf tournament held in Greenville, South Carolina. Its purpose is to raise funds for charitable organizations within the communities BI-LO serves in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Funding priority is given to hunger relief programs, children’s charities and organizations providing educational opportunities.

BI-LO Charities Corporate Grant Guidelines
BI-LO Charities, Inc. was established as a non-profit corporation to review and award grants to qualifying organizations. BI-LO Charities has a long tradition of supporting charities in its market area, and excellence as a corporate citizen is one of its fundamental goals. For that reason, projects with a high impact in the community are considered more favorably.
The BI-LO Charity Classic, an annual golf tournament held in Greenville, South Carolina, serves as the primary fundraising event for BI-LO Charities. Its purpose is to support charitable organizations within the communities BI-LO Supermarkets serve in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Funds raised through the tournament are distributed through a grant application process, and priority is given to education, children’s charities and agencies addressing the needs of the hungry.
Following are some guidelines for organizations to use in determining if they are qualified to apply for funding from BI-LO Charities:
What may be eligible for funding?
- 501(c)3 organizations. The agency must submit documentation of its IRS tax status and be in good standing with the IRS.
- Schools. This can include public, private or parochial schools. IRS 501(c)3 or 170(c)1 guidelines may apply.
- Faith-based organizations. Funding may be requested for projects whose activities impact the general community.
- Civic groups. Organizations must have a valid 501(c)3 or 501(c)6 tax ID number and be in good standing with the IRS. Funds must be used for projects benefiting the community.
What is not eligible for funding?
- Organizations without IRS tax status 501(c)3, 501(c)4 or 501(c)6.
- Endowments
- Annual Meetings
- Faith-based organizations whose projects primarily benefit their members or adherents
- Individuals
- Organizations outside of BI-LO Supermarkets market area
- Projects whose funds will be used to benefit areas outside of BI-LO Supermarkets market area
- Political Causes
BI-LO Charities will award or deny grant requests at its sole discretion and retains the right to conduct a review on the funded organization at any time during its funding commitment.

- Grant application is now available online.
- Grant requests funded from the BI-LO Charity Classic are due by 5:00pm on July 31, 2008.
